Hi everyone,

this is a real good feel forum... everyone is so open and willing to help. I hope you can offer me some advise with this :-)

I met a thai girl in Bangkok and we had some real good time together for a couple of weeks. We have been texting and calling each other for a while.

i want her to come to UK for a month to stay with me.. so we can get to know each other more before jumping in and moving to BKK too quickly. lol

She is worried that getting a visa will be difficult - does anyone have any ideas how I can go about getting one for her.  No idea what to do or where to go or what information they need to guarantee she can get one. She said I need to do this as it will be better for her if i do it?

I am still married however I am separated from my spouse for some time now. We still get on as great friends but we had different things we wanted out of life.

Hope someone can advise me the best way as it would be great to see her over here... thanks in advance .

She has a right to be worried - honestly you have only known her for a few weeks. If she doesn't have her own financial means, her chances of getting over to the UK are slim to none. You may be able to sponsor her but taking in to consideration the length of time you have known her, I don't see it happening. Either she can go to the UK embassy in Bangkok and get the paperwork with the requirements or you can go to immigration in the UK. But I seriously think you are wasting your time. You're better off coming here.

The main things the US and UK want to see it that she has reasons to come back to Thailand (children, a job, etc.) and that she has financial means - in other words she is not going to run off inside the UK to work illegally. If you were to somehow sponsor her in this case and she were to run off, you would be responsible for the costs of finding and deporting her.

Thanks for the reply scottmallon,

Hi Alboro,

Honestly and straight forwardly, getting visas to europe from here is all about your bank balance. So, that's the answer.
I know an agent who does all these stuff. PM me if u need his contact info.
But again, my frens went to europe recently told me, all you have to do is go to the (UK) embassy and apply for it. Go early, the queue is always long and work slow.

Hi Alboro

Guess you have been bitten by the Thailand bug:)

I wish you the best of luck but I believe you have very little chance of getting a UK(not European) visa in the circumstances you give.

Yes there are agents in Thailand who do this sort of work but they charge big bucks and its not usually the Thai lady that pays!

Glad you had a great holiday in LOS, perhaps you should come back and check the place out a bit more before you make any life changing decisions though.

Good luck for the future.

I agree with most people on here, its highly unlikely that she would get a visa given the circumstances, your better of coming to Thailand !

I'm from The Netherlands, and my Thai girlfriend went to The Netherlands to visit me and my family. Don't give this plan up yet, it's difficult.. but people tend to easily say it's quite impossible to get it done.. In fact: it's not. I always say that if you have the right documents and situation, the chance to get a Visa is like getting any other visa. It's not that going to Europe is impossible for a Thai citizen, again it's easy if the situation is right.

It depends on your own circumstances first. Do you have a job? What is your salary? You don't have to answer these questions in this forum, but these are factors that are really important. If you can finnancialy guarantee for her, you are good to go on the financial part. Then: Does your girl has a job in Thailand? Does she have kids? Does she have any property or reason to go back to Thailand after she visited you? This is the most important factor for immigration. If she has no job, no kids.. in short: no reason to go back to Thailand, she probraly will not get the visa. In the past: Thai women and men went to europe to never return, these days rules are different.

If you want I can help you. I don't know anything about the UK documents and regulations but I can tell you the way I did it.

Good luck! Don't give up. Having your girlfriend with your family and friends is one of the best ways to create a strong connection! :)

He's known her for a couple of weeks and he's going to guarantee her? C'mon, seriously. It would be much better for him to simply come back to Thailand.

I already did say:

The thing is, if the embassy finds out they've only known each other for a few weeks, there's no way she's going to get in to the UK UNLESS she is perfectly capable of traveling abroad on her own or she has done so already. It doesn't sound like this is the case or he wouldn't be trying to bring her over.

Well, he has the plan to bring her to the UK so you might think that's a good reason to indeed guarantee for her. You don't know about his situation and neither do I. We can keep on trying to demotivate him, but maybe it's a better idea to tell him what his chances are don't you think?

A couple of weeks could be 2 months. Add the calling/texting for another 2 months and they know each other for 4 months. Yes immigration will ask about this, and yes it's the best to be honest. If you don't want to come and live in BKK just come here for a month or 2.. See how things go, after that period of time you know a couple of things for sure:

A. It's gonna work out
B. She is worth the small risk of being the financial guarantee.
C. You know each other for long enough to get a firm story at immigration.

So.. yes, i agree with the person above me. It's way easier to come to Thailand. But again, if you really want to do this: try it!

In no way trying to demotivate the guy; I am however trying to be as realistic as possible and if she isn't able to travel without his help, her chances of getting a visa are slim and none.

FrisoPee

Writing a new reply since the quote is becoming very long.

It's good to be realistic. But it's not really helping him hearing it's almost impossible since I'm sure it can be done. If the guy has a good job, works there on a long-time base and can hand in some documents the chance of her getting a visa might be not as slim as you think. There is a reason why they allow people to guarantee. Immigration knows not all people have the resources to  get alle the money together for a long trip to Europe.

For my own experience. At the time we applied I was a student with litterly 0 income. My partens did the financial part and that was no problem.

The easier step, your gf should go to UFS Visa around Lumpini Park which they guarantee that she can get UK visa about 80% ( although the queue is a bit long a day ). She can receive the visa within 3 days. ( I give the link below )

However, it depends on her documentaries too. She should show

- Copied of passport

- Copied of book bank

- Company Letter ( Identify that she is working there )

- Identify about accommodation ( hotel pay slip , friend's house address, boyfriend's address and etc. )

-  Sponsorship (if any ), she should show the identify about the relation between her and you. Print the email, show photo ( I saw some show about 10 big photo albums which they took picture together )

VFS is a partner of the embassy wich takes the control of all appointments and applications. The real application and the decision wether to give or not to give is 100% done by the Embassy itself.

The thing with photo's is.. You can bring them, but they are not going to help much. Just be sure you have all the documents and the sponsorship is done in an correct way. Dress up nice and do the application.

If there is financial sponsorship she don't have to bring her own bookbank.
