Hi guys!
We just moved to Drammen and we're wondering if there are anyone else here that lives in this area. If so, maybe you also would be interested in starting some meetups from expats around here where we can have a coffee or a beer and discussing all the strangeness of this country?

Aurélie

Hello M_&_W.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

Great idea! Hope you'll get a lot of responses.

PS: Do not hesitate to make some suggestions by proposing a date, an hour and a place.

Thank you,
Aurélie

Drammen is a good place

I've only ever driven thorough it. I've heard people say nice things about it though. Hope you are enjoying it so far.

We are enjoying it here. We wanted originally to live in Oslo, but it is easier with Drammen since it's more affordable and closer to my husband's work. So far we like it!

I suppose it makes a good compromise in that respect. It's not so far from Oslo if you want to visit at least.

Glad to see your post M_&_W :). I am surely up for some drink and a chat about the strangeness of this country. There's a lot to talk about :D. I am a new guy in Drammen myself and don't know anyone to hang out with yet, but... I can bring myself.

Drammen really is a nice place :). It has a lot of the facilities of a bigger city, but you can walk across it in about a half an hour.

Yes the waterfront is nice, and it is also hilly

It is not exactly a touristy place, but it is convinient if you want to live near Oslo

:D If you live in Oslo then do take a train to Drammen on a nice spring or summerday next year, but don't make the effort if you live somewhere far

Yes it does have good facilities like good train connections

The waterfront also gives it a a large town feeling, and I believe it has got a new bridge and new/renovated upmarket apartments and restaurants as well...

I read in an inflight magasin that Drammen was really just a chimey smoking industrial town in the past, perhaps in the 1970s, however now it has become an "in place" to live, and surely as Oslo expands it will become somethin of a surburb in the future.
