Keshav:

Food per person pr month: About 3000 NOK
Accommodation monthly rented: About 8000 NOK , this is usually for you if you share a place with 2-3 others so each of you pay 8000 each and the total rent will be 24000

Wages: Minimum wages in Norway is around 100 NOK for one hour's work, which is around 800 NOK daily before tax.

So you can say that the first 4-5 days you work only to be able to pay for your food, the following 2 weeks you work to pay for rent, then you work for 2-3 days more to pay for other things, and the last 4-5 days of each month is money you can take away and save :D

1 room flats are going for about 6000, why share with others and pay more?

Yes you are right, you can get them cheaper - but mine were what you would call conservative estimates I think it's called - so you can also find accommodation in Oslo for say 7000 monhtly , but it's probably in the range of 5000 to 9000 monthly at any time :)

Charisse, :D no " he" didnt mean 2,400 - I did in fact mean 8000 each but perhaps I put the accommodation costs a bit too high hehe

The thing with Oslo is, if you go to finn.no or a shared accommodation site, you will see the price for each person in a house / flat as 5000 monhtly , 6000 monthly, even 10,000 monthly ...and then there will usually be 1 or 2 other persons at the residence.

I do know that you get very little for your money in Oslo so perhaps for 5000 kroner each in a shared flat, the room might only be 7 m2 or 12 m2 in size although the good thing is you will not be confined to your room but to a larger space including a living room , kitchen etc when you share with others.
