We have just moved to HCMC from Sydney and are currently residing in D1. We have a beautiful 5 month old baby girl and I was hoping to connect with others that have babies to share experiences, tips and info, particularly about living here with little ones.

You should join the Google Group PhuMyHungNeighbours as they seem to be busy with babies.

There is also a breastfeeding group active in the Crescent Mall - most likely from PMH as well. I am not saying this factiously but obviously those mothers share your interests. (They are not a protest group, either!). They post on the above PhuMyHungNeighbours.

You say you are new. The VNese law says formula for under 6-month old children can only be sold by pharmacists. Therefore, if you find formula for that age group anywhere else it is not only illegal but also dubious in origin.

VNese mothers avoid anything Chinese for babies and they are avid Best Before Date readers.

Seemingly a Japanese brand of diapers is the best, not that I am a consumer of them, and when their factory in Thailand was flooded all sorts of cries for help went out!

Giants Supermarket, in the Crescent Mall, has a good selection of baby items as do a few other stores.

Thank you so much Jaitch, hugely appreciated. I will try to join the google group as suggested. Very much appreciate the warnings as well, although not applicable to us re formula, still very good to know these things.

Sounds like a visit to Giants Supermarket is on the to do list now :)

Do you know if expat families tend to reside in more one district over the other? We are currently in district 1, just getting our bearings before searching for more of a permanent residence.

Miss Nguyen - thank you, we think she is very cute too

There are Foreigner ghettoes predominantly in Quans 1 (high cost high-rises [compounds]), 2 (An Phu - houses [compounds]and high-rises) and 7 (PMH - houses and high-rises).

Check your PMs.
