Hello to all,
in 2 short years I will be able to collect social security. If I stay here in the USA I will have to work to the day I die, so I'm investigating retiring outside of this country. I have heard glowing reports about Bocas del Toro, Panama ... but am still open to any other locations. I have been blessed to have lived in some places that are called "paradise", Hawaii and the Florida Keys, so I know first hand that living in paradise is quite different from visiting there.
I'm looking forward to hearing from anyone with information on becoming an expat ... both good and bad aspects are welcome!

Rule number 1.

Make sure your mind is wide open.
Most news stories are total crap. You'll find that one out very quickly.

You are exactly right! Have just started looking into this and already have found to discount those that say a place is heaven ... or hell! Youtube videos (excluding real estate and tourist destinations) provides some real "see it for yourself" information.
