Organizations for Expats

Hi all, new to this forum but have a question about helpfull organizations for expats or wannabe expats in Ecuador. I find a lot of general info but a lot seems to come from folks that are selling something....tours, real estate, etc. There is an organization in Costa Rica, Assosciation of Residents of Costa Rica that is very helpful for people both in and out of the country on many subjects, health care, residency and etc. Anything like that in Ecuador? Looking forward to whatever answers appear.

Periodically (no ideas as to frequency) there are meetings (here in Cuenca) that offer information for new expats.

Nothing so specific since the internet took over --

What has sprung up is Face book groups...on the coast is Ruta del Sol mates and in general Ecuador Exapats. Both require permission so you need to send a message to the email address of the forum.

Another site to try similar to this one is ExpatExchange.com -- lots of info but it can be cantankerous ... just jump in, ask your questions, disregard the family infighting.

Also do a search for blogs...and send messages to the writers.
