Hi,

Nice to meet you all. My name is Jonny and I have been looking for banking/finical sector job in Malaysia for after completing my master’s degree this summer.
I want to work in Malaysia as my dad worked there before I was born and my Indian grandmother lived there as a teenager and had nothing but took experiences when they lived there, also my girlfriend is Malaysian.

I graduated with a BSc Business and Management form a top rated UK business School and am now taking a MSc Banking and Finance as well as having worked part time with a privet equity firm since my second year of university and took an 8 week internship in the city as a summer analyst before staring my masters.

I can speak flaunt English, French and Tamil as well as some Arabic, Hindi and Portuguese and come from a mixed race family Irish Mother and Indian Father (Tamil and Goan). And know there is a healthy Tamil population in Kuala Lumpur so feel it would be the perfect place to relocate and further my career.

I am currently looking for international companies in the finical sector willing to hire me as an international working as from what I’ve seen that’s the best option. And I am here to see what advice people from Malaysia or that have done this in the past can give me on my  options and weather I stand a realistic chance of finding any work out there.

All useful impute welcome and thank you in advance Jonny Vaz.

Sorry but you have no chance of a job in banking in Malaysia as a foreigner as no skills/experience underage etc etc. To be frank your chances in the west are slim as well! Most of these types of degrees are not worth anything in banking except for low level admin jobs. I was a city hedge fund manager and head of treasury at a major investment bank years ago and only Russell group/ivy league grads in maths/hard sciences/history/law etc are looked at. Some only recruit Oxbridge grads. Even then it is competitive. Clerks in a retail bank yes but only for those who are citizens in western countries and Malaysia/Asia. Sorry truth hurts! Try at home - IT better choice for career abroad get some real skills and experience and then look in a few years then have a chance.
