Hello to everyone,

Just like most of you, I will be moving to Brunei for work next month. I have read some of the threads about living in Brunei, do's and don'ts, and I guess it could be a tough little place to live.

I would appreciate if anyone can still provide more information for me about gyms and spas. How anyone pass their time during the weekends? Is it easy to be a member of the Yacht club or take on golf? Where do expats normally hang out?

Just looking for some basic insider tips from all of you and I look forward to hearing from everyone on this group.

Hi Brunei Newbie! It is better to stay in Bandar or Gadong area as it is pretty near to shopping malls, supermarkets and restaurants or if you are an outdoor person, the park in Bandar is a good place to go for hikes and walks! Brunei is not a tough place to live but a pleasant laid back country with lots to do. Just be yourself, respect the people and the religion and learn to entertain yourself. You'll love Brunei!

I agree with Sallythoe. Gadong area a bit expensive. What I can say is maybe you can rent a room/house in Kg. Mata-Mata (just less than 2km from the main shopping mall).

I am currently living in Brunei..

I am planning to settle down in kb.could someone guide me to the schooling procedures for my son to join in class 9.whether any music classes or football classes are available there? what abt the schools? do we have to go to bsb or jis only for the schools. how do they commute from kb? apart from this any other tip for a new comer in kb?

If you look at the google map, KB is quite far from JIS or ISB, If your sending your kids to any of this schools, get a place in Jerudong or Muara, or talk to an housing agent, visit bruneiproperty.com.bn.
