Hi all

My partner and I are looking to move to Malta to ideally continue our current careers.

We really want to open up a small gallery to exhibit, & sell, my partners work with perhaps some other 'guest' items.

Can anyone give us some advice on 'good' areas, competition, craft events etc so we can build up a better idea of whether this dream will work or if we are thinking pie in the sky.

Appreciate your help and hope we can join you all on my favourite Island very soon.

Thanks & cant wait to hear

M & R

PS.

If anyone knows of a good gallery premises with flat above it - let me know.

Thanks again all help and advice gratefully received.

Hi Martin,

I already responded to one of your other posts.

In respect of your idea of opening up a art gallery to exhibit and sell your partners work, what kind of art are you talking about ? Guest items ? What are you thinking of?

There are arts and crafts 'villages' in Malta that produce and show typical Maltese crafts like glass blowing, silver jewellery , pottery and so on.

I think there is quite a lot of competition here in Malta but am not sure where good areas for art could be.

Many areas are touristy busy but art , except for small art, is probably not a typical tourist buy.

Every art gallery I have seen here has been devoid of customers.
Maybe it's the time of year though.

Hi Aurelie

Good to hear from you & many thanks for your comments.

Already getting some good feedback - some great advice.

Fingers crossed will keep coming.

Hi Ricky

Art is a bit of a struggle everywhere. Rosa's art is transferable to large and small pieces so we would probably concentrate on the smaller bits for the gallery and continue with the internet sales for larger pieces.

'Guest' items may very well be Jewellery pieces, pottery etc - some will come from the UK others we would hope to get from locals & sell at a commission.

We enjoy competition, it helps you develop - we would look to work with the existing galleries rather than muscle in on their territory.

Any other comments gratefully received.

Cheers

Hi Redmik

Its not just Malta & Gozo, galleries everywhere except NYC & Paris are empty!

Thankfully we do internet sales as well & are pretty hot on social media.

We just want a great base that inspires Rosa to produce and allows me to persue my skills.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the comments, keep them coming

Martin
