Hi,

Can any one indicate what are the various/common options of water heating at homes and what is the associated cost?

Thanks

Hi, the most common form of water heating is by electric immersion heater.  It's quite expensive - the cost of power tends to vary according to season (more diesel generators in dry conditions), and depends upon use, so it's difficult to give a cost.

The alternative is solar hot water. This is very effective and low cost (once installed).  We paid approximately Kes 150 000 for our system.  We have probably saved in the region of Kes 4000 per month. If you rent and/or live in an apartment, solar is probably not be a practical solution, due to lack of roof space on which to fix the panels.
