Hi,

I am a Senior Software developer with 7 years of experience. I am having an offer of 900 KD Per month in kuwait. Can some one please tell me the cost of living in kuwait. How much is the normal amount in KD for the following:

1. Rent (planning for 1BHK as the family size is 3)
2. Food expenses
3. Travel expenses
4. Medical Insurance (per person)
5. Others (Electricity and telephone)

Is there any chance to save some money?

The housing costs here are very expensive.  Taxis are high too.  you'll need to find a roommate or share a room with someone.  Shared rooms are 60kd/month and the not so good apartments with a full bedroom are 100-150/month.  250 month will get you a nice place if you share it with someone.

Thanks for information, but i can't share the room as i am married. In my family, we are 3 member (2 adult + 1 Kid, 3 year old).

There are lots of thread regarding the cost of living but all are old and i want to know the current expenses. Can you provide me the current expenses to get the idea of living.

Is 900 KD sufficient for month. Also is there any possibility to save some money?

Ok, it sounds like you're on a tight budget and want to save money.  I would recommend living in the southern region of Kuwait in the less expensive areas like Mangaf, Mahboula, etc.  There are apartments there, 1 bedroom for 200-250kd unfurnished.  You would need to find used furniture which would run you about 400-600 kd depending on your tastes.  Fully furnished will be 300 kd.  Keep in mind these are basic accomidations, no pool or gym or internet.  Internet here is 30kd/month.  Food costs vary depending on how much you eat out.  200kd/month would be my food budget for family of 3 and this is a tight budget.  Not certain of medical insurance.  Usually apartments here have water and elec. included in the lease.  No need for an apartment phone.  Count on 10-20kd/month for each cell phone.  Gas is very cheap.  Taxis are high, 2 kd minimum and 4-8 kd to go across town depending on the distance.

Thanks for information, that will really help.
One more thing i need to know. As you told to look for apartment in  southern region of Kuwait. I am not sure but i thing my work location will be in Safat. So how far is the southern region from Safat. And what is the transportation expense, if i have to travel from southern region to Safat.

Thanks

Safat is right in the middle of Kuwait City, in the northeastern section.  That's a long taxi ride.  If the company will not provide you an apartment and you must ride in a taxi to work,...???  hmmm.  If your employer will provide transporation this would be acceptable otherwise you won't be able to save much.

Can you give me name of some of the residential places which are less expensive (like for 1 BHK for around 250 to 300 KD) and near by safat.

Thanks
