The day Malta grinds to a halt

Malta prepares for the Monday blues
The island will grind to a halt on Monday with a number of schools and establishments set to close the day after the election result, burning an estimated €20 million hole in the country’s coffers.
“But anyone who has been through a Maltese election knows that the day after is always like this,” Mr Cassar White said.
The businesses contacted by The Times would not go into the reason for closing but some felt that whatever they said could be interpreted as taking political sides.
The country’s largest shopping malls – Tigné Point in Sliema, the Embassy in Valletta, Main Street in Paola and The Duke in Victoria – will not open on Monday. Large supermarkets, such as Smart, Pavi, Scotts, Chains and Tower, will also be closed all day.

Hey Red..

Thanks for the info. Guess it's time to stay put and see what happens on the day.
And I thought honkin' and hootin' for another country's footy team was to top it all!!!(Rewind back to the Euro championships!) Quite hilarious..and unbelievable, but guess it gives the locals something different to do
