Pigs?

I'd like to know if when bringing in pets to Ecuador, a domesticated pig would be allowed?  Though purported to be a "micro miniature," he's weighing in at the 55-60lb mark!

Is it the same procedure as with say, a dog?

Appreciate any advice given!

Oh, they LOVE pigs in Ecuador. You see them on many corners.
Unfortunately, probably not the way you'd like to see them.

I'm kinda pulling your leg. You can check with the airlines, but I think even though your pig is domesticated, they are not considered that. They have very rigid rules concerning livestock and plants. There is too great a chance of the  transmission of disease.

And, whats an Irish lass doing with a pig? Shouldn't you have a little sheep?

Good Luck..... and if you do you get your lil' piggy into Ecuador, keep a close eye on him. < SMILE>

Pigs make the better pet, ZenSPIKE  :)

In checking Pet Policies on various airline websites (LAN, Taca, Avianca) I don't see anything referencing pigs... just cats, dogs, guinea pigs, birds, etc.

Do you suppose calling each Airline direct is my best option?  I'm amazed to think that it's not more common place! (folk bringing their pet pig with them to Ecuador!)

Teach him to bark, put a long tale and big ears and maybe nobody will notice the difference. :)

I might, if I thought it would work! :D

I know that pigs are very intellegent animals. As far as the airlines go, I would think that they would know the regulation as to how it pertains to importation of domestic animals. So, I don't think it will nessesatate calling each one. Also, you might want to check with the Consolate, they should know if it's legal to import.
Actually, I really have to hand it to Vinny. I think he has the sure fire answer to the problem. And, as long as your teachin' him to bark, teach him to do it with a Spanish accent. Sure fire cure for your problem.;)
Good Luck
Neil
PS. and I'm sure you recall the old addage: When pigs fly? ( meaning it aint gonna happen)

tell ya what i'm gonna do..I'll split the pig with ya at market valuue for pork bellies.
I know enough about pigs to know that you must love him very much.  i chuckle to think that my 2 little dogs. (my bed partners) would make much more than a half a dozen tacos.
I wold kill for them. they are the ONLY LOVE AND AFFECTION IN MY LIFE. so lets just make bacon...lol
