I want to move to Mexico, but I don't know where and I am definitely not looking to spend my retirement pesos on US style accommodations. Would prefer either coast, but interior Mexico is fine as long as it's not cold. No large cities please. If I can't find a place at 25% of what I now pay, I will fly to the Philippines. Single, no kids, pets, or disabilities. Already have a border crossing card and I am waiting for a passport. I plan on driving down and staying for a long time.

Do you speak spanish? If you do then consider the state of Veracruz along the gulf coast. If you don't then you will be limited to the tourist areas.

Si, puedo hablar la lengua como un Mexicano, pero prefiero Ingles. In fact, I would rather not be around great gobs of Americans. I have been to Veracruz and down as far as Catemaco. That was long ago. How about rents? Gotta be cheap or no go! I mean cheap to a Texan, not someone from California.
