Has anyone recently flew their dog out to Malta from the UK?
I am after some information and advice on
cost
airline used
airport flown from
stress on dog
quarantine times and place
cost of vet fees to check dog in Malta
and finally recommendations of a good veternary service in Malta

my baby is my staffie who is 5 years old intially I would have liked to put her in the car and travel over with s but from what I read we cannot do this and it will be a 2000+ mile journey which would be a bit much for her sat on my knee (she thinks shes a lapdog)
We are in the process of begining her passport and will be looking to move her out late 2013 approx Nov - Dec then she can slowly aclimatise to the weather in 2014

Any help on fees you paid and advice or recommendations will be most welcome :)

Not sure why you think this as lots of people drive to Malta with pets, we drove from France with our dog.
This link is the Malta gov. web site for pets and gives you al the information you need to bring your dog into Malta.

I flew my 2 dogs out last 2 weeks ago using jets 4 pets. It was quite expensive around 1100 pounds all in this includes the handling fee in malta of 70 euros. They will do everything for you from supplying the crates and the import documentation all you have to do is sort out the pet passport and get the required parasite treament between 48 and 120 hours prior to flying. They will also sort out for the vet to inspect the dog on arrival in malta. As for a vet in malta I was walking my dogs the other day and a woman sopped and told me about a charity called happy paws its 15 euros a month to cover your dog for vet fees and their vets are english. I also have a staffy you get some funny looks from some locals most believe she is a pitbull and a bit wary of her but shed sooner lick you to death than bite you. I hope you get everything sorted I told my wife I wasn't moving without my dogs. Good luck any questions jus pm me.

Wow, that seems a lot just to fill in a couple of forms and phone up an airline!
Vet fees are very cheap in Malta and they as all speak English we have never had a problem.
The Maltese in general are very frightened of dogs mainly I think because the Maltese dogs are not socialised / trained and will go mad when they see another dog.
We love Staffies but finished up getting a rescue springer when our old ( French) dog died, she is a joy.

Thank you all so much for the advice.
6327farag where did you fly from in the UK?

My staffy also is a softy she would rather lie on her back and have a belly rub than be aggressive, she lives with a cat now and has always had other smaller animals around.
She is a "lounge lizard" happy when chilling out with a bonio or other doggy treat.
