self employee freelance residence in Malta

if i'm a self employee, as a freelance, i have my own business online or a small project that i can work on it from home, can i get residence in MALTA for non EU, and what is the procedures and papers i need to provide also how much i shall pay for tax every year, any way i'm not sure if there's something like this! but i'm asking

Hi Designs,

when we applied for a work permit for my non-EU partner on the grounds of being a freelance self-employed writer we were told that non-EU citizens cannot be self-employed in Malta.

I have heard of several other cases in the meantime. They were all turned down.

You would certainly have to apply through the ETC for a work permit as self-employed and see how it goes.

Your temporary residency is based on economic self-sufficiency and does not allow you to work so you might have to be careful there as applying for a work permit goes counter to that.
