An Irish scientist sick of the rain

Hello, as indicated, I'm an Irish biomedical scientist with 6 years hospital laboratory experience. The rain in Ireland has gotten the better of me and I want to move to an English-speaking, sunny country in Europe. So, Malta appeals to me. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the story is with employment opportunities for a scientist in Malta, either in a hospital or industry. Thanks for your time :D

Very recently, two of our largest pharmaceutical companies announced that they would be downsizing/doing away with their research departments. If you think you still have something to offer to such companies in other departments then you can send them your CV. These are some of the pharma companies I know of: Actavis, Baxxter, Siegfried Generics and Arrow Pharma.

Alternatively you can get in touch with the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health Science at our university.

Hi Lambada, thanks for your reply, yeah I don't do research so thats not a problem. Obviously it means there's going to be a load of jobless scientists floating around Malta now though which isn't great. Thanks for the company names and the uni idea :)

I just started at the Uni, and I can say that, though the Uni is probably not doing well on the rankings, there is a tendency to become more research oriented. So it certainly beats a "just teaching" job at a colleague in the US.
