unnecessary posts

Post new topic

I'm disappointed in the content, authenticity and relevance of the posts on ExpatBlog.  I'm trying to obtain real information about real travel and relocation to Mexico and what I'm reading has to be false.  One entry says "get ready to move 3 months in advance."  That's an absolute impossibility unless you have no worldly possessions and live in a tent. I also saw a picture of a woman in a fur lined winter coat (aka Minnesota winter) supposedly interviewing a woman in a fast food kiosk that could not possibly be a photo of life in Encinada, Mexico.

Is there an editor available to sort out the urbane from the relevant that Americans need before they relocate to Mexico?

Unfortunately, like all forums and social networks we have little control over the nature and authenticity of the content of postings. Unless the content violates our rules or is abusive there is little we can do about it. Perhaps you have some creative suggestions?

If you are concerned about any particular posting then you are invited to use the "REPORT" button and explain your concerns in the drop-down window.

Mr. Wm J Woodward,
I only trust that Expat.com will publish content that only relates directly to moving to/living in Mexico.  Sexual/porn invitations have no place on this website.

James

Hi jistad,

That's exactly why we have the REPORT button and our Anti-Spam System that locks out users who send out copy & paste messages.

If you have received offensive messages or find an offensive posting in a forum you should use the REPORT button. It will be investigated fully and appropriate action taken very quickly.

If you don't like unnecessary posts, you're going to hate this place.  I've personally never posted anything about Mexico.

But I see people in heavy coats in Hong Kong every winter.  Hong Kong winter is nothing like Minnesota winter, but it's cold to the locals.

I have no way of knowing whether your original post was a joke or not; it was certainly unnecessary. First: Google Maps doesn't know where Encinada, Mexico, is, so you are probably right that the photo you saw was a fake. Second: your use of the word "urbane" is unorthodox, to say the least, so you might want to check your English dictionary. Third: three months to get ready to leave home is not an "absolute impossibility", even for people who don't live in a tent.

Try again under a different assumed name. Or, take up one of those porn invitations.

James

Here's a photo of Ensenada, Mexico that I found on Google. The people here are wearing coats so it must feel cold to them.

I've been living in Brazil for over eleven years and the locals in São Paulo get bundled up like Eskimos when the temperature gets down to 12º C / 53.6ºF

Gordon Barlow

Yes, James, Google does know where to find the place called Ensenada, but the poster who calls himself "jistad" wrote crankily about Encinada, which is a non-existent place altogether.

I know Gordon, but as a teacher I understand that even though he's an American that doesn't mean he can spell nor that he knows anything about Geography. LOL

Isn't that just the funniest thing?  Their winters are like summer to us.

The first thing would be getting the spelling right.
If you can't get that much, you'll get sweet Fanny Adams else right.

Secondly, you do need to get ready well in advance so that's excellent advice. If the OP thinks he's going to take the kitchen sink with him, he may well have fun.
Two seconds on google got me everything he needs to know but he doesn't seem to have bothered.

Last - Learn something about people. As our guru, Mr WW says, people from hot countries often feel extremely cold in weather many others would consider warm.
It never drops below 24c here but even I wear a light jacket from time to time because I consider it a little nippy.

I really don't know why posters join a forum, ask questions, reject the answers because they know better than people who live there, then go on to moan about the very people who've tried to help him.

JasfurJQ

That's OK Jistad, critics is good but in my perceptions I prefer to be quiet esp. when not ask for my opinion. In your situation your just being open and honest. :)
