Anyone in My Tho (south of Saigon)

Hi,
I am looking to expand my cycle in My Tho. Returning after 45 Yrs from Europe and US, I have hard time blending into the local. I am not talking about level of education but manners.

1. Most men smoke like chimney
2. Drink like sponge
3. Swear alot, every phrase have DM (Transalation: F. your Mom)
4. Try to take advantage. You invite 1 they came with the  band, and when time for the check they all fly away.
5. They all thinking about cock fighting. etc...

Any one who speak English, French or Vietnamese and does not have those qualities are welcome.

Activities around here are limited so I do feel very lonely sometimes. My GF does not want to move to a bigger city.

Please tell me that I am asking too much? too old fashioned? too boring? marginal?

Thanks.

August Choong

Hello, I am in this area. Are u in My Tho already?

ChrisFox

I am in Cần Thơ, not terribly far, and I don't smoke or drink. I love animals.  If you are even down this way or I am up there I would love to meet.  Please contact me privately.  You can meet my parrots!

If you were in My Tho forty-five years ago, I have some questions on the Minh Huong Chinese community there, and their role in the purchase of forest products such as eaglewood, tiger bones, etc. As well as their role in Chinese traditional medicine in the Delta. ALso I would be interested in any details on concerning religious communities in My Tho at the time. (Confucian, Buddhist (Kinh and Khmer), Hoa Hao, Cao Dai, and Cham (if any).

If you know of or remember any details on those, we can trade PMs.

my fiance's hometown is My Tho. I'll stop by there for a day on my way to Can Tho during Tet. If you'd like to have coffee with someone that can speak English hit me up.
