Someone has informed me that some foreigners have been fined for using an A ID card on the buses - has anyone here had a problem ?
Originally they were all supposed to expire end March, but that was extended until end Nov.

Hi George,

there has not been a Legal Notice published that the ID cards validity has been extended!

Until I see the official extension published I don't believe it ! And to be honest , why should it ! I gave up my ID card and only have a receipt  that is not accepted in many cases.

I had a discussion at the Sliema local council today but finally they accepted my application certificate as an ID card substitute.

Cheers

Thanks Ricky - so The Times article was wrong then ?

"A legal notice has now been issued as a temporary solution to automatically extend all ID cards till the end of November."

I can't spot the legal notice on line

I managed to keep hold of my old residency certificate and found that acceptable on the ferry, not tried it or the receipt on the buses

Hi George,

that's what i said !

I've been waiting for the publication of the LN. Until it is published in the Gazette it is not in force !

So no official extension yet .

Cheers

Wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.

Last weekend I showed my old ID card on the bus and it was accepted. Same at Malta Post. Up to now it was still accepted everywhere ... even the papercopy I used now to protect my original ID card :)
