Bringing Dogs/Pets ?

I am looking to find a position in the Netherlands that will allow me to move there for a few years at least. One of my current hangups is I have a Golden Retriever that must come with me. Has anyone relocated with a pet? Is it really the pain some people make it out to be? Would love to hear how others have managed the move and any advice that might be offered?

Yes, I brought over my dog in April. You should see a local vet in your area to advise of the requirements of each country. Most importantly, the customs officers require all paperwork (see vet) and a 15 digit microchip.

KLM has a website that can probably address the more particular airline concerns.
