Hi there , we have Motor Trade and admin skills and Retail experience. What are the average wages for these positions or positions of similar quality?

What are the average full time hours is it similar to the british 9-5 etc?

Thanks

Thanks for that Antonio it definatly shed a light on certain things. Is hard to know if the work we get in say motor trade admin and retail would be enough to cover our living expenses yet not have to work every hour under the sun to just scrape by.

Do many people trying to make the move struggle with the work situations do u know ??

Many do struggle and fail - but generally speaking its down to poor research and lack of preparation before the move.

Yeah this definatly not something we are taking lightly , ive been looking on the ETC website and it seems there are positions out there I think ill have a better understanding when we come out next month and talk to people and actually see what the work opportunities and wage structures are like.

Hi Ben&Emma,

as the work you are looking into deals mostly with Maltese and will require Maltese language (whether retail or admin) I have my doubts whether you will find a position. Whenever I have dealt with car service, buying a car and car insurance they all speak Maltese and do their best to deal with you in English but most of the customers are Maltese and ,generally speaking, Maltese want to communicate in Maltese.

There are many foreign companies where you can get along without Maltese language. It is very difficult to learn ,especially to use on a professional basis.

The wages will be on the level 'average Maltese salary' whatever the job. Igaming pays slightly better but requires being a native speaker of a non-English foreign language. Many IT positions pay a lot better. Experienced programmers can earn a lot.

Cheers
Ricky

I do agree with Toon, as much as research and preparation you do, less changes you will have in struggling.

Even though the salaries are much lower than in the UK, life in Malta it's much cheaper as well. Depending on the area you live, you might get a 2-3 bedroom apartment for around 350-400 euros per month. Here in Malta, you do not pay for council Tax or TV license, therefore, are less expenses for you.

Have a look at this Website, hopefully, you will be able to find something on your professional field.

Good luck!

A Taxi driver earns roughly 250EUR/week but he will probably work around 8-10 hrs a day.
