You used to worry about Laos visa extension procedure? Now reading the information here will help you minimize your worry. It is quite simple to extend any type of Laos visa at the Immigration Office in Vientiane. There are two common cases as follows.
It only takes USD 2 per day until your new visa is issued in case your current visa is extended before the expiry date. But if you wait until it has expired, you will be fined of USD 10.00 per day. Also it depends on your current visa to get how many times of extension and duration for your extension visa.

For example. Your visa expries on 31 May 2013.
If you apply on 21 May 2013, the processing time is 3 days for instance, beside the stamping fee, you will be charged 6 USD.
If you apply on 1 June 2013, the processing time is 3 days for instance, beside the stamping fee, you will be charged 30 USD.

There are 2 main ways to get visa extension:

Number 1: Do it on your own This option will be suitable for those staying in Vientiane. You can go to Immigration Office on Lane Xang Avenue, opposite the Morning Market. Please note that the office is open from Monday to Friday, from 8:00-16:00 (closed 12:00 to 13:00 at lunchtime). Visa applications on Friday afternoon are not accepted. It might be said that the procedure is very clear; you only need to fill in the application form then submit with the documents as follows:
• Your passport
• One passport type photo
• Service fee
• Form fee
• Visa extension fee: $2 per day (normal) or US$10 per day (for overstayed days)

Number 2: Ask for the support from a travel agent or specialist provider
Laos visa extension can be done by almost travel agents. The fee is different among providers, you -+should contact with them for more details. In fact, for those who have other visas , NOT TOURIST VISA, because it requires more documents.
Moreover, this option fits well with those staying far away from Vientiane Capital, because there are no immigration offices.
After having read this information, we really hope that your worry of extending Laos visa will be no longer big as it is very straight – forward and clear.

Thanks, That is very helpful. I am going to Vientiane in two weeks and intend to stay for a month or so. Is the visitor visa still good for 30 days?
