you were actually banned for being disruptive. There is a high crossover of members between that and this forum.

MikeInPoulton

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum.

I think you'll find this a very friendly, informative and, at times and allowed by the administrators, funny board.  The feeling I glean from being on here is one of friendly, family cohesiveness.

The information is free - at all times - however, you may have to put up with silly jokes from time to time and there are few here who enjoy a good 'punning session'.

The guys and gals have a fabulous wealth of information for those wanting to come to Malta and Gozo and also for those who already live here. There is a thriving meeting group, however, being in Gozo it may be a little difficult to go on a regular basis, but there nonetheless.

Come in, wipe your feet and settle down for some friendly banter........I'm sure that you too will have some good advice to offer in the future (as long as it's above board of course).

Cheers

Mike

Edit:....just seen George's post.  I haven't changed my mind as I'm sure people here will judge you on how you conduct yourself on this board.  Out of interest I have 'looked' at the board you refer to (many many months ago) and found it a bit 'clicky' not to mention "expensive" and after having read some of the 'putdowns' dished by one of the senior administrators didn't think it was my cup-of-tea.

If everyone behaves themselves then we will all get on fine together.

I think the issue was that your posts from last year suggested you and your father were acting as property agents.

MikeInPoulton

I'm sure Steve doesn't want to drag up the past from another board for it to be aired here........let's leave it alone eh? and start afresh.

Moving on........

My name is Steve, my pseudonym (I am a writer, sports betting primarily) is Marc Owen Banks. I have just returned from Gozo for the 6th time, again hunting for the right property to rent, have found one, and take it on from December 1st officially. It is in Xewkija and I have paid a deposit.

I am married (16 years) to a wonderful woman called Julie, and have no children.

I have spent the last seven years working toward becoming a full time writer/journalist and have just recently achieved that after 20 years in the Entertainment industry previously.

I am looking for advice and past experience of others that have made this move and what intricacies I may yet to be be made aware of. I pretty much have taxation, working, residency, importation of personal effects etc etc sorted now. SO my main contribution will be more on the "sharing my experience in these matters", more than asking for more advice.

Your father shows(/showed last year) people around apartments for sale in at least one new development in Gozo, doesn't/didn't he ? Just to clarify.

One of the 'senior administrators' has a serious financial interest in that site doesn't she.........half the money taken for the 'premium membership' goes to your interest in an animal charity in Gozo doesn't it?............Just to clarify.

George, the guy has posted 4 times......what happened on 'the other board' with your mates really has no business on here. I'm no admin, however, I don't want to see 'dirty washing' aired on a forum where everyone gets on so well - it leaves a bad taste and I feel sure others are uncomfortable with this.

As I asked earlier..........move on please.

I agree with you, so why did they start this thread. Good bye.

totally agree - that arguement is not for this board - leave well alone - get on with enjoying this board as am sure if people want to now more then those who do can pay the costs and join the other forum. if they want to.

just to clarify there are parties to this thread that are admin on that site.

but please move on.

GuestPoster566

Oh dear, we seemed to have reached an impasse.
Can one not move from one site to another without leaving a trail?
I don't know why we needed to know all the background details or why in fact Steve saw fit to keep a record of all his previous exchanges elsewhere.
Perhaps he is very sensitive about this issue and the need to be vindicated but why attract/involve people who didn't even know or wanted to know or needed to know about all this 'previous'.
Steve, perhaps with hindsight you could have come on here without mentioning anything previous, unless you wanted to publicly criticise some others (who we don't know).
It just doesn't make sense to me but hey, let's move on!
Let's extend a welcome and see what happens.

TBH - i dont think this thread serves any real purpose to the forum members- it may be best to close it.....welcome to xewkija bound though.

Xewkija bound

Thanks for the Welcome Toon

Agree, in hindsight I didn't need to fill in the details. Although I didn't keep a record of the messages on the other board, they remain there. I just used them here to defend myself against the disruptive claim that George cited and that I was in fact banned because I wouldn't pay £25 to upgrade. It is very easy to ban someone and then make ridiculous claims when that person is then unable to respond.

I signed up during the frustration of not being able to log in without any communication on the other site. And hoping there would be someone on both sites who could explain. that worked out well, with the very same person who 12 months ago it would seem put 2 and 2 together and came up with 16!

The thread does offer no purpose and agree it should be locked or better still deleted

GuestPoster566

Hi, you could delete your first post, then I think others will follow.

Armand

Hi all,

This thread is going nowhere so i close it.
Feel free to start a new one if you have any question about expat experiences.
