Employment agencies in Singapore are of limited use.
Please note that they cannot (by law) charge the job-seeker (that is: You!) any fee - everything must be paid for by the employing company. Also, arrangements where the official salary is higher than what you actually get are illegal and can get you into big trouble. If you encounter an agency or employer suggesting one of the above, you should decline and look for another job!

Overviews of average salaries are in the following links. Please note that, as a foreigner new to Singapore, you might have to accept a lower-than-average salary, and your living expenses will be higher (mostly due to rent).

You can find more salary survey (mostly for specific industries) by googling.

Thanks...but i am based in India and i approached an agent in India. In india the agents charge exorbitant rates for abroad jobs. Can you tell me what is the procedure to change jobs?? and can it be done easily?? I ll most probably cum on Q1 pass...

Thanks

An EP is only valid for the employer who applied for it.
To change jobs, you need to apply for a new EP and cancel the old one.
There is always a risk that the new one is not approved (e.g. if the new employer is not eligible to hire more foreigners, or if there are sufficient locals who can do the job and must be hired first). The old employer can see your status online and thus will know about the new EP application (even if it is rejected) - they might then fire you for disloyalty, which means you'll end up with no job and have to leave Singapore.

is there a risk with big companies as well?? I guess they are more obedient about employment laws and stuff??

This is not about obedience to the rules.
All companies have maximum foreigner quotas. There are even cases where existing EPs were not renewed because the company has lost some local employees and then was above quota, so some of the existing foreign employees had to go.
If your boss hears from HR that you are looking for other jobs, he will of course make sure the work can be done without you. Once he has achieved that, why should he keep you?
In addition, MoM (Singapore's Ministry of Manpower) does not like job-hoppers and rejects EPs because the applicant has changed too often (changing after two/three years is not a problem, though).

Some more information:
To get a Q1 pass with over 5 years work experience, the minimum salary is around S$3500-4000.
You cannot bring your family if the salary is below S$4000.
