Likely to relocate to Gibraltar in August

Hello All,

My partner and I are likely to relocate to Gibraltar in August. I got a very tempting job offer from a company based there and he is currently looking for an opportunity himself.

I was looking at flats for rent in Sotogrande, it seems to be pretty good value and not too long a commute to Gib by car. I heard you can easily park in La linea and cross the border by foot. Gibraltar properties seem far more expensive, correct? I am half Argentinian and speak Spanish fluently, therefore would not mind living on the Spanish side.

Also, is it easy to build a social life there? Are people eager to make new friends? I am a bit concerned we would feel lonely to start with.

Thank you everybody - any advice or local insight would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi Giulia,

Welcome to expat-blog and thank you for your introduction!

Please feel free to go through the Gibraltar forum, that could be of great help.

You may post an advert as well in the Housing in Gibraltar section, this is useful.

Thank you,

David.

Hey Giulia,

Good way to make friends is to play sport - I would suggest Gibraltar Gaels, a relatively new Gaelic Football club, who meet once a week to train and have games every month or so.
No experience required, there are lots of newbies who are all welcomed.
Have a look at the website gibraltargaels.com and send a message - they guys will let you know.
