Does anybody know of a good curtain man who can supply and fit please?

Soledad719

They all do,but in a very expensive way.Expect up to 1000 aed, depend by  the size and material,if is about only curtains or also hangings.Try the closed workshop to your house.

gregory1

Thank you for your help Soledad, I forgot to say that I am in Ras Al Khaimah and was looking for someone to give me a personal recommendation and contact details.

Soledad719

Yes,I saw it after I posted, but I really don't know anyone there. Is it any Souq in that area?U can find in such places. If not,go in other Emirates to buy what u want and maybe u will find who fix it in RAK.Just as a suggestion.

gregory1

Sounds good, thank you.

Hi Gregory,
It seems that HomeRus (in RAK Mall) have readymade curtains.
Are you living near Al Hamra Village,Mina Al Arab or in town?

There's also Nawah Curtains, located on the road past Safeer Mall, just past the palace round-about the first U-turn - tel nr 0554072063 or 072351995

Faruk 0503993107 this one is in Al Jazeerah

Hope this helps
Arlette

Hello again (I am the guy who  was asking you about the Hash House Harriers). I am in Al Hamra, so who would you recommend?

Greg

FeeAcer

Oh yes, it's true, sorry for not recognizing you but I was actually doing three things together, LOL!

Listen, I personally did not use any of these. We bought ready-made from IKEA and had them shortened by one of the tailors in Al Jazeera. As I understood from the messages I got, HomeRus in RAK Mall have the same types.

gregory1

No Problem Arlette, thanks for your help again.

Greg

FeeAcer

BTW did you get in touch with Ivo?

gregory1

Not yet Arlette, I will though, but I am up to my neck in boxes etc having just moved in.

Greg

FeeAcer

OK no problem.

Hi Greg,

How did you get on with the curtains?

Just moved to the Village and need to start this mission!

Thanks
Hannah

gregory1

Hi Hannah,

I live in a town house in AHV, the going rate being quoted to me to curtain the entire house was AED8,000 which I thought was a bit steep. In the end I went to dragon mart in Dubai. All of the curtain material including black out, plus curtain poles, curtain ties etc. cost about AED2,000. We chose the curtain materials, gave them the measurements and they were made up for us within 24 hrs. I fitted the curtain poles myself and we are very pleased with the end result. Let me know if you need any help.

Good luck
Greg

FeeAcer

thanks for the feedback Greg but tell Lily to take advantage of the files posted in the group, she knows where :)

Have a nice day
Arlette

By the way did you enjoy last night?

gregory1

Hello Arlette,

Only too happy to help. Yes I did enjoy Thursday evening very much, and also nice to say hello to you and Christine in the flesh. I hope that with the better weather coming there will be more similar events.

kind regards,
Greg

For others interested in curtains, China Mall on the Ajman/RAK border also offer the same service of curtains being made within 3 hours and they will also deliver and fit in Al Hamra. Take the measurements to any of the many curtain/blinds making shops there. I had two large pairs of black out curtains and paid 400Dhs total.

Another curtain option ....... I shall be moving out in 5 weeks (mid Nov) so will be selling curtain poles and curtains which are already sized to fit my Al Hamra house (or villa as they seem to be called here).

Two large windows of Ikea vertical 'blinds' (not sure if this is the correct term) plus three medium windows of ex-UK traditional cotton-ish curtains.

Hi ya,

Thanks very much for the information Greg and SushiFee - amazing prices there.

Been to Dragon Mart previously and have heard good things about China Mall. Sounds like a visit is a must!

Just makes me feel a tad nauseous to think of the money we could have saved previously had we been to Dragon Mart for curtains whilst living in DXB!

Thanks again :)

gregory1

Hannah, you are very welcome. I must admit I was always sceptical about Dragon Mart quality (bit of a snob I suppose!), But I then thought that DM must be supplying a lot of premium curtain retailers (which they are!), so simply cut out the expensive middleman and don't look back. I am now a convert.

The main problem with Dragon Mart is that it is too much crowded and the parking problem. Also quality is not always there :)

But I bought my bike and my daughters there (ok: a bit out of subject ;) )

SushiFee

I've always visited DragonMart and China Mall during the week (never Friday or Saturdays) get there just after 10am opening and leave before 3pm and you'll find plenty of parking and no crowds of people, it's always very quiet.

Hawag

I was wondering if anyone knew any of the curtain shops contacts in dragon mart mall, I'm looking for ready made curtains? Everyone I seem to get in contact with only has the custom made. I heard dragon mart has great price ready made curtains, it will be appreciated if anyone can give me some numbers ?

Marjorie

Hello Hawag,

You are posting on a thread which has remain inactive since 2013.

Chances to get responds are quite weak.

I suggest you create a new thread in the Ras al Khaimah forum and ask your question there.

Thank you,
Marjorie
