Hi Everyone just a quick question we're living here in Malta and need to renew our passports have looked on line on how to do it and apparently we have to apply to france for it and its gonna cost loads more. Is that the only way it can be done ?Does anyone know of a cheaper way to do it it does seem a bit of a rip off. We're not planning to visit UK this year but need them done incase of emergency if anyone has any info on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Dottie

If you are talking about renewing British passports then it used to be that you send them to France but they have just recently changed it that you have to send it to Durham in England to renew, all details are on Gov.Uk website and yes it does cost us a lot more and the only other way to renew your passport is to take a trip to England and book an appointment at one of the passport offices to renew it, but you have to have the passport sent to an address in England if you do it this way.

P.S. You also have to renew them even if you are not planning on travelling anywhere because you have to have an up to date and valid passport if you are living outside of your home country.

Hope this helps
