Hi Oisin,

several typical cases presented in the usual Commission language. It all boils down to the Commission opinion that the UK is in breach of several directives.

As the UK reply was not satisfactory, on 24 April 2012 the Commission sent the UK authorities a Reasoned Opinion under Article 258 TF EU (last stage before the Commission can send the case to the Court of Justice) and invited them to take the necessary measures to comply with the Reasoned Opinion.

The UK authorities replied on 24 July 2012. Their reply is under consideration by the .Commission

Do you have any up-to-date information on the latest reply and the renewed consideration by the Commission? It is just about 1 year later now.

Cheers
Ricky

Dear Ricky,

This information was sourced from the constantly updated ‘activities’ of the European Parliament Committee on Petitions which may be accessed by means of this internet link:

As regards any developments vis-à-vis the specific case/petition numbers that have been cited, contact Europe Direct:

Dear Oisin,

your answer suggests that nothing has happened in the meantime. I tried the link but that does not give any more information on the issue.

So the EU are still dragging their feet on the issue and kicking the can down the road.

Let's all sign the 47 th petition ! That will be the one....

Sorry to be so negative but you asked for it !

Cheers
Ricky

The commission of the EU does do "dragging their feet" quite well
