My fiancee and I will be traveling to Bangkok to visit. She is Vietnamese and will be flying in from Saigon. I am an American flying in from the USA. We will both be flying back to Saigon upon our departure from Bangkok so we would like to fly together on the same flight. Is a ticket showing departure flight required by the Thai authorities upon our arrival with a visa upon arrival. Can we simply purchase our departure tickets at the airport as proof we are indeed departing?

It would be best to have return tickets.

I have gotten in and out of Thailand 7 times already and so far NOT once the Thai immigration asked for a ticket to leave when I arrive.

Where they give you problems is the home airport, when you check in the US they might ask you for a ticket leaving Thailand, unless you are not an US citizen

If you are not traveling on any type of non immigrant visa to Thailand then you should aquire a return ticket to encounter problems at home as well as on arrival point. Thai immigration have the right to check a return ticket on arrival, they do not practice it with some frequent travellers is another matter.
