Good luck....you have to prove 30 dollars a day income...but that is like 450US per month...the 30 is BZ. You can't work here without a work permit. That will cost you, and people won't hire you without one.

Sorry Malta might still be your place.

Yes for some reason they did an edit and erased what they said.

nature101

Hello yes I did edit :) and the worse thing to do is asking questions online, people have different needs and different mentality,

To HAWK thanks for the tip ,what if for example you have 1000 us in bank will they still renew your visa? if there is money left in the bank or just have to be coming in all the time monthly?

About Malta you cannot say that and that is not nice of you ,you should never say that to people we all have different needs and when they are not met life is horrible ,never say that to people not really mature! but thanks for the tip .

Hi Nature 101,

Getting an extension on a visitors permit is not difficult. You initially get 30 days when you enter. Then, every month ( one day before the permit expires) you go to the immigration office to get a 30 day extension. You have to do this every 30 days, until you get your Permanent Residence Permit.
When you go in for your monthly extension, the immigration officer can ask different questions like " Why are you here?" and ask for various types of documents - sometimes they ask some people for their bank statements - and that is where you have to show at least an amount of $US 30 a day.

When you go back 30 days later, they still will want to see $US 30 a day or $900 in an account- it can be the same $900 as the money as the month before.
I have only been asked once for the bank statement - others are asked every time. The other thing they may ask for is a copy of your signed lease on your apt or house or hotel. Again, sometimes they ask for it - sometimes they don't.
It is my understanding from speaking with people around here that the Corozal Immigration office asks more questions than some of the other offices in the country.

nature101

Thanks a lot Nichi,
So the 900 month are U.S or BZ ?
Hawk said is BZ ,just to make sure ,:)
that is much less questions than what they asked me in Australia,
and is what basically they ask me in the U.k just not the money thing but they ask for our own good ,just to see if we can survive and have shelter .
Thanks again .

Nichi

The official statement is:
'To renew your tourist card, you’ll need to visit a government immigration office in Belize City or Belmopan, or a police station in a district town. You are expected to show that you have sufficient resources to maintain yourself in Belize, at least US$60 a day."
In Corozal, the immigration officer was only asking for $US30 per day. Like I said, it all depends on who is behind the desk and which office you go to- sometimes they don't even ask for proof - on other visits they do.

I always try and be polite, and I think Malta is a beautiful place.
When you go to immigration you can take a bank ATM receipt, and yes 1000us would be acceptable.

They are asking you for 60....because you are a couple...I'm single remember lol....

I had to edit...the 30-60 is BZ not US

I should also add Nichi is correct they do not treat all people the same way. I have no problem because I just show them my retirement pension statement.

Nichi

Actually, I'm considered single as well. :)  D and I have separate forms etc.

They didn't even ask D for proof of funds. Yet, they asked me - so the only thing that can be guaranteed is that its inconsistent.
