Hello,

I am from India and currently working in San Jose, CA. I am thinking about taking up a job in SJ that would require me to spend a couple of years in Riyadh. This would be a great opportunity for my career, but I am a little bit concerned about moving there.

It would be great if someone can fill me in with the quality of life in KSA and how does that compare with the US (well, I am not expecting a whole lot here)? What are some of the things to do in KSA on weekends? How about traveling and getting around to various places in the Middle East?

If I accept any offer, I would have to be in Riyadh from early next year.

Thank you in advance,

Regards,
Ankit

It may be best for the Yankees on the forum to answer this one on one rather than we Asian tree climbers making a sloppy attempt to satiate an Indian man in North America?

You're never sloppy, musicman :)

But to the question!

Ank, I'm American, a woman, been in Saudi since last summer and my opinion is that life here is truly what you make it. It's all about attitude and personality  type.  Since I don't know you and what type of person you are, I have no idea how you'd adjust.

As for details of life here,  we've discussed this topic a thousand times so why don't you browse through the various past threads on the matter and then ask specific questions (that you don't find covered in the threads)?  At that point, I'll be happy to add my 2 cents (oops.. in Saudi it would be 2 hallalas!).

Allie, I was just punning on the "tree climber" and "sloppy" bit. I know I am surely not...... Maybe my ancesators were. I bet even yours...?

heh heh. Lets hope we dont recycle to the beginning of time and all become tree climbers once again?
