Good Morning Hobbit,

I will be happy to help you with your journey. I live 17 miles (28 km)from Blackburn, and work 5 miles from Blackburn.

You are correct that there is no airport there and that the closest one is Manchester.

I would recommend that you fly to Manchester catch the train into Manchester Piccadilly, then a connector train to Blackburn. It will take a couple of hours from landing at Manchester and arriving in Blackburn. Is there anyone who can meet you at the airport? If you have more details, I will be more than happy to help you plan your travel in the UK.

Blackburn is a fairly peaceful town, very little crime serious crime. This web site may be of interest: visitblackburn.co.uk/

May I ask is this a holiday? If so, I can advise on some lovely day's out.

Hello TheHobbit,

You are very welcome. I have just checked and the trains leave Manchester airport every 30 minutes and go directly to Bolton.

From Bolton a connection train will get you to Blackburn. The journey from Manchester to Blackburn will only take 1 hour and 20 minutes, providing there are no disruptions. Also, there is a 30 minute wait at Bolton, so if there is a delay, you should be OK. I'm sure that your friend can meet you at Manchester airport and escort you to to their house. It isn't a difficult journey.

Please feel free to contact me anytime for help, I will always try to be of assistance. I recently travelled to Egypt alone......it was quite an ordeal, so I understand your need for assurance.

Keep in touch, Chuckles. x
