Good day everyone!

My name is Paul. Few days ago I came to Iceland, Reykjavik and I am looking for a housekeeper job at any of hotels located in Reykjavik. At the moment my Icelandic language skills are weak, so I can't even read local newspapers to find a job. So would love to get some information here about further ways how to find a job in Reykjavik. Also I would apppreciate direct offers.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Paul.

Have you browsed the work-related topics in this forum? I've already listed several websites that have information about job hunting.

I suggest that you start learning the job advertisement words ASAP since many of these housekeeper type jobs may be posted in windows or in the papers, and not on websites.

some threads to check out:

you can try visiting the hotel websites directly. None of the people working in the housekeeping industry are Icelanders.
You can also try contacting cleaning companies,

thank you for your time answering my letter. Maybe someone knows direct pages of cleaning companies here in Reykjavik. It would help me to contact responsible people.

thanks in advance!

did a quick search in the online yellow pages (ja.is) and here are 2 examples. They should give you some ideas of words at least:

These are companies that handle cleaning like we had in our offices- someone who comes in after hours a few days a week and mops the floors, cleans windows and dusts. I think most housekeeper jobs for hotels are in-house staff. Both links above have information on where/how you can apply (Umsókn um atvinnu/Störf í boði)
