Does anyone know of any plants (flowers or fruit trees for a backyard) that would grow nicely? I'd like to begin to plant the patio :) Any good resources? Any places to go for obtaining seeds/plantlings? Thank you!!!

there is a place called "isla de Francia" near Avenida Aviadores del Chaco and the Colegio Goethe.

You can find any flower, tree or plant you need there.  For seeds, you can look for Agrofield, Agro Abasto or big supermarkets.

good luck!

While surfing the web I came across an experimental agricultural college north of Asuncion.  I can't find the link and don't remember the name.  Does anyone know of this college?

New here and somewhere I must start trying to give my 2 cents.

Where capelo said is really the best place for me too in Asuncion, then if your closer to Lambare or city centre going south down the Gral. Santos there's a couple of places too just before reaching Cero Lambare (Where I mostly go) which isn't to bad either.

Then if you have the means and time there a place just outside of Caacupe, which is called the Centro Expo Flora, haven't stopped there in years though so I don't know how they are going on. You'll find it close to that "Cruz de Peregrino" on the lane that comes back to Asu, and of course theres Caacupe it self which has lots of families making a living out of gardening planets.

I guess I'll have to give in and visit one of these places.  I see the viveros everywhere, but I've found that if I tell my neighbors that I like certain plants or trees, they show up soon after with plantings or seeds.  :)  Gotta love this country!
