Hi there

Well in 5 days I am making the move to Malta. I have secured a job and my accommodation is paid in full for the first 2 months. Just looking for some information on the best area to rent in the north of the island? I will be working at the Radisson Blu Golden Sands hotel and will be looking for a place within commuting distance from here.

I have so many other questions about cost of a weekly shop etc also but sure I will find all that out when i arrive.

Thanks

James

Hi, there are 2 buses that go there. One goes through Mosta and the other goes from Qawra , which then goes onto Bugibba, St. Paul,s and touches on Xemxia. So they are your choices from the north.

Hi James,

realistic options are probably Mgarr if you want to live in the middle of nowhere but within walking distance of your hotel or the St.Pauls/Bugibba/Qawra.

From the cental area (Sliema,Valletta) it would be a long commute.

maybe Manikata is an option but like Mgarr theres not much in it - xemxija st pauls bugibba and qawra are probably the most realistic options - bus services are quite good from there - to just about everywhere.  but its not the distance thats the issue its time it takes - that it is the key.

Hi toon,

yes, you are right ! I actually meant Manikata as Mgarr is not really within walking distance unless you are a Rambler ....

Cheers

it did cross my mind that the mgarr option was a walkers paradise..lol

Thanks for the advice folks. I would be looking for a 3-4 bedroom place as I am coming with a friend and would like space for the visitors I imagine we will receive looking for a cheap holiday ha ha. Also what company is best to rent through or am I better just checking the Times of Malta?

Toon

times of malta classifieds is as good a place as any - check out your local shops bars and cafes etc - word of mouth his better and much cheaper... no agents fees to worry bout - and that is usually 50-100% of rent......
