Health Insurance

Does any of you have experience with an Ecuadorean Health Insurance?
My company will pay for it , but I have to choose the policy and sign a contract.
My options are BMI, Bupa100, Bupa500 and PanAmerican.
They all cost between 160-190USD per month.
Any feedback at all will be appreciated.

I have BMI and like it.  I used to have Salud and it was also very good.

As an European, I never had the need to have private health insurance before in my life, this will be the first time.

I spoke with the agents for both BMI and BUPA and truth be told I thought that BMI might be the better deal.

But according to my work-contract I must contract a policy within thrity days of my arrival, and BMI wants "7-10 days" to approve my application.

Furthermore, the BMI agent is none too quick in answering my emails, and questions, so I just decided that I might as well go ahead with BUPA instead. Does this sound irrational?

Anyone, has anything to say about BUPA?

You may want to check with SA's largest health insurer SAAD. From everything I've read, it appears they're pricing seems to be 30-40% lower then the numbers you've indicated in your blog.
Of course, I don't know the health conditions you or yours may have and how many folks you're insuring but give SAAD a shout.
I am not absolutely certain of the spelling so search around for the correct spelling and pronunciation.
All indications that a guy at 63 or so can get solid private coverage with drug scripts for about $ 70 dollars per month.
Ironically, my wife who's ten years younger actually was quoted more for a month at $73 dollars.
So a full hospitalization plan with minimal co pays for GP's and specialists with eye glasses and preventive dental runs about $140 monthly. If you can't find thew link, let me know I have them bookmarked elsewhere on another system at home.
Good luck
