Hi,

let’s talk about job opportunities in Kuala Lumpur.

What are the top hiring sectors?

And according to you, what are the most promising job sectors, which will keep creating jobs in Kuala Lumpur?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience,

Julien

Energy I think is the top, especially for expats.  I think the future will be in electronics/cyber but it is just in its infancy now here in Malaysia.

Energy of course as always, engineering infrastructure as always, education is getting larger as new schools and colleges popping up everywhere and medical related.

Cyberjaya seems half a failure. A zombie still active but not a big growth area. Stiffled by excessive corruption and poor planning.

Gravitas

1. Specialist IT software development and IT project management skills with up to 5-10 years experience.
2. Senior Biotech postions.
3. Project implementation positions in specialist engineering and construction e.g. for mass transport projects.

More expats are being engaged on shorter contracts of up to 1 year rather than open-ended recruitments. This promotes skills transfer.

Education is growing in Malaysia. With the IGCSE gaining popular acceptance, it's a potential area for expat employment.
