Hi,

I am working in Lagos , Nigeria & company is transferring me to Muscat, Oman so I have to accept it now. They give me R.O 950.
Company is not giving me accommodation so I have to search for my own.

I have gone through some discussions but I dint got overall idea it was mostly about rent only. I am a family of two we maintain average life style (not too expensive).

Anyone can please tell me the expenses on monthly Basis:

Rent(1 BHK is it furnish? ):
Electricity :
Internate :
Mob. :
Water :
Monthly food expenses for(2 person):
Transport per month:
average outing cost on weekend (for average life style):

We will really appreciate if anyone can tell me Driving Licensee cost:

Since I don't know anyone In Muscat can I get little cheaper 1 BHK furnished house in decent locality for around R.O 150- 200.

Regards,
Satish

Rent(1 BHK is it furnish? ): Generally in an average locality, 1BHK will be around 180 - 225 OMR / Month. My suggestion for you is to find an apartment near to your workplace, hence saving a bit of transportation cost.
Electricity : for 1BHK, the rent would be approximately 10 - 15 Rials.
Internate : 20 - 30 rials / month depending upon the package.
Mob. : Purely depends on your usage, however OMR 10 for average local calls.
Water : 10 OMR / month.
Monthly food expenses for(2 person): The grocery for 2 persons should not exceed more than 180 OMR.
Transport per month: Its an open ended question. I can't answer it. You may consider OMR 30/month.
average outing cost on weekend (for average life style): If you're dining twice a week outside, the average cost would be OMR 15/week or you can consider all around 60 a month (Based on your budget).

We will really appreciate if anyone can tell me Driving Licensee cost: You'll be issued a learners license book (OMR 5), after which you'll have to hire an instructor. The charges for each class (1 hour) are OMR 6 per hour (In general). It depends on you how many classes and hours you take prior to proceed for your driving test.
Since I don't know anyone In Muscat can I get little cheaper 1 BHK furnished house in decent locality for around R.O 150- 200.

Hi Sumasiri,

This is about the normal package offered to beauticians. But I see that you are above normal and therefore the salary offered to you is very small.

Without transportation and accommodation you would have to struggle to stay here with this salary. With both transport and accommodation provided your expense would only be for your food and personal upkeep. If you lead a frugal lifestyle, you should be able to save about 50% of your monthly income - in fact even more, if you live carefully.

Good luck.

Hi sumitran,

Thank u so much for the information, but also they r providing incentive/month based on target achievement... So i think i can save more because i m not a foodie.....

Hi,

i want to bring my daughter to Muscat, anyone can kindly tell me in this case wat will be the eligibility that government will need, in terms of salary or income the person whom want to bring their dependent to stay with them...

Sumitran

Hi Sumasiri,

Minimum salary has to be R.O. 600/- per month to be eligible for availing of the 'Family Status'. Also, only men are allowed to bring their wives and children on Family Status. It is seldom  allowed for women.

Hi jobinmathew20,

The basic rule of a minimum monthly salary of R.O. 600/- stays.

If proof can be provided that the parent / parents are dependent on their son, then they can get the 'Dependent Visa', even if their son is single. This facility however is not extended to single women.

As far as siblings are concerned, they can only come on a 3-month Visit Visa, extendable by 1 more month. Permanent stay is not possible.

Check out the Royal Oman Police's Visa information page for full details.

Hi Sumitran,

I tried to search on Internet about the visa rule of min. R.O 600 is basic or gross but could not see clarification about it.

Do you have any Idea?

Hi satishsharma,

The stipulated R.O. 600/- per month minimum salary is gross.

Hi Schaz,

I am still in Lagos & will be joining in Muscat in Feb. staright after my annual leaves.

I have one query the 1 bhk apartment is it furnish or unfurnished.

Regards,
Satya

schaz

Dear Satya,

I have quoted for the Un-furnished apartment. However, there are furnished ones also (But availability is extremely limited). The rent would be on a higher side too. My suggestion to you is to go for an unfurnished one. You can further on decide to decorate it based on your budget.

satishsharma

Dear Schaz,

ok. Thanks

Satya
