western driving license is working in UAE or not pls?

I have one friend is coming here,but not sure the driving license is working the UAE or not,thank you .

hi wilowtree!!!

being italian and with a visit visa he can rent a car without problems. Once you have the residence visa , you can change directly the driving licence, as always, you have to pay 200AED for the aplication form, and that's all.
