Typhoon Haiyan

Post new topic

bluecheer

Hello everyone I have friends in Hoi An and can't get through to them just wondering if anyone
has any information about 'Haiyan' and whether it has hit yet on the eastern coast.
Any information on this would be very much appreciated.
I hope everyone is safe.

That'll show you the current progress up to one hour previous.

Thanks 'jimbream' at least I can now see what's going on.
Cheers.

Thank you 'khanh44' this gives me some idea of how bad this is.

We're in Hoi An...it hasn't hit yet but everyone has been spending the day preparing--sandbagging the doors and roof, covering the windows, and securing anything that moves.  The rain has just begun to pelt down now (8pm).  Hopefully Haiyan won't be worse than Nari a few weeks ago.  We lost the ceilings in the bedrooms, various windows, and plenty of trees. And we were lucky--some of our neighbors on the beach lost their homes and businesses.

thanks 'richiv'.
My friends live on Tran Phu Street and also run their business from there to.
Has the power been cut off because I can't get in touch with them?
I have just been looking on the weather map I have and it looks pretty bad.
You said that 'Nari' was bad but isn't 'Haiyan' worse?
Keep us updated if you can.
Thank you for your help and stay safe.

Thanks, bluecheer.  Morning now and Haiyan seems to have slid past us up to the Northeast.  Lots of rain, but not too much wind.  Electricity and phones all working.  Your friends should be fine...

Total fizzle.  So bright in Cần Thơ II almost need sunglasses inside.  Barely a cloud in the sky.

Lucky you...still pouring rain out of a dull grey sky here!!

Yes and your lucky that is all what happened.
Great to hear everyone is ok and safe.
My thoughts go out to the Philippines who have suffered and will suffer the aftermath
of Typhoon Haiyan.

Was this suppose to hit HCMC? I get a text today saying don't go outside today because of it but there isn't even so much as a breeze blowing. :/

so good to hear you all seem to be ok, best wishes for the clean up
