Hi  my only query is why expats are being asked to contribute to the National Pensions Fund and National Savings Fund when we are usually only here short term.  Are these contributions going to give me a state pension aged 65? How does that work?

AS per the 2014 Budget, there will be some modifications regarding the Retirement Scheme.

Foreigners who choose to retire in Mauritius will now have the right to purchase an apartment upon a minimum transfer of USD 120,000 at the time of the application.

As for the annual transfer USD 40,000, it is still unclear if there will be changes or not.
I think some more precise details will be communicated soon.
