Consejo Taxi

Post new topic

BravoBill

Hello New Friends...I've secured a month rental in Consejo Shores starting April 1st. I've visited Belize before but this will be my first trip North. Reading this Blog site has been very helpful...so thank you to all poster's for the advice and news.

I do have a couple of quick question and I'm hoping for responses..

Are there any safety issues or concerns walking the road between Corozal and Consejo?

Are there any problems getting a taxi to come to Consejo for tbe ride back to Corozal?

From California the airfare difference to fly to Cancun vs Belize City is under $200.00...the last bus leg from Cancun to Corozal while  reasonable appears time consuming vs the bus from Belize City to Corozal. Does anyone have feedback to share?

Best Regards and Thanks...BravoBill

I have been travelling this road for the past 10 or so years.
there are a few safety issues with walking along the Consejo and Corozal road.

It is 7 miles between Corozal and Consejo, so hopefully you will be in good health, if you are you wont be by the time you finish, dont walk in mid-day, it will kill you, end of.

Wear a hat.

Why walk when you can bum a ride with most folk coming or going, Just stand under the big tree next to the cemetery at the end of the paved road out of Corozal or sit on the bench at the main entrance to the shores.

No problems getting a taxi from town i will post you a few numbers once I reboot my Belize cell.

On the Cancun-V-Belize if I had the choice, which I don't, I would drop in at Belize.
It can cost me 3 times as much to fly into Belize than Cancun and i do not like the borders in mexico either airport or land.

Thanks mcagun for your post. Got a pm the other day giving me the same advice so great to also get your confirming input.

I'll remember my hat and thanks again for your post.

Interjet Airlines has a flight that leaves from Santa Ana to Mexico City, then connects to Chetumal, which is about 10 miles from Corozal. In fact you can see Consejo from Chet. Last time I checked flight was reasonable

I agree with McGun.  Also, Consejo is a world of its own.  to know the district you will need to go out to spend time, in town.  Each of the 5 districts is different.   we have been here since May and are beginning to explore other districts.

Many thanks for your flight tips.

Thanks kristinanadreau for your post. Nice getting confirmation that getting back and forth to town will not be an issue nor expensive. So looking towards my April visit. All the BEST to you as you explore along.

Cheers Bill
