Hello,

I'm Danny. New to this site.  I am from Canada and soon will be moving back there. Here is a little problem I have encountered and hope someone out there can help me with my question.

First the situation:  I have lived in Davao for a little more than 2 years.  I opened a bank account with MetroBank (peso account).  Because I am moving back, I went to see them to wire the money in my account back to my canadian bank.  Their answer, as a foreigner I am not allowed to wire money because they said they need to convert my funds to canadian funds before sending and they cannot sell foreign currency to a foreigner.

Can anyone offer a solution.  We are talking approx. $70,000 to $75,000 CD.

I would like your answers directly to my email

Thank you so much

one solution may be to open a Citibank account (or HSBC). They have local branches in PI. Then trasnfer funds to that account and can wire internationally.

This goes to all expats. Make sure you have an internation bank account set up. I use citi cause they are verywhere. Can then set up a local bank for regular money issues..

Great to know you got your bank concern settled. Clarification, are you coming back here in the Philippines or are you going back to Canada?
