For all you McDonald's lovers they are building a new store in HMC. It is on the Hanoi Highway not far from the Lotteria. It is at the circle that has the clock in the center.

great now i can continue living on bigmacs, chickenburgers and chicken mcnuggets while being in Saigon which offers the best food scene...

I don't know if you have heard about the labor problems McDonald's has been having here in the US.  Workers have been going on strike for higher pay.  To try to calm the employees management has been telling them very strange things.  The latest to come out a few days ago was telling employees how to eat more healthy.  As part of that they said their food was crap and not healthy.  Check out this link: http://rt.com/usa/mcdonalds-employees-fast-food-764/.

Labor shouldn't be a problem in Vietnam. The McD's here will also have a drive-thru. I gotta go over there, just to see the logistics of that with motorbikes and the intercom system.  It should be very entertaining!

SM,
I had not thought of that. That ought to be something to watch.

McD is learning the tricks of connection. They awarded the franchise to the husband of the PM's daughter.
The guy, a Viet Kieu financier, has never been in the hospitality's business before, let alone fast food business.
The only relevant experience he can show, according to himself, is flipping burger during a short summer job at some burger chain back in the US.

Yep Him and Wild_1 were the only two candidates on the shortlist

Anatta

Wild_1 lost out because McD did not want to appear too obvious about the (mis)use of connection, plus they think Wild_1's idea of adapting the menu to local taste by offering dog meat burger and rượu đế is too radical.

bta87

That had to be another troll.  Purposely designed to elicit outraged responses and start fights.  Dog meat comes from stolen pets.

McDonalds will have the same menu as everywhere else, God help people who eat that stuff.

missmae

please post some pictures of the drive thru. I really wanna see this.

Hope they have Mc Flurry. Only reason for me to go there Is Mc Flurry Daim

They'll be disappointed to learn they have to pay BEFORE getting the food.

It is ok, Chris.
Anyone has been around this forum in last few years knows about my benign but hysterical speculations, in particular, concerning anything in connection with Budman and Wild. ;). They are purposedly ment to be so far-fetched, given the Vietnamese environment, that everyone will see through it right away.

Even good old Julien is not spared when it comes to my speculations.

Well that might be a part of it Anatta but I think the real reason was when they asked him how he would do a cash count he started to take off his shoes after he got to 10.

Anatta

Oh, forgot about it.
Those corporate types back in the McD HQ nearly had a heart attack since they thought they suddenly had a male stripper bribing them with a free show.

Guess those poor fellows have never done business in Vietnam before, signing contract in massage parlors  :o.

I beg you, don't ever ask him to count to 21

For anyone who has not been here long enough, Budman and I have expressed deep concerns about this earlier, among others, post #54 and 55 of this thread
