Hi

I've been offered 15k SAR/month in Riyadh in a accounting firm (as a CPA). I have a wife and have lived in Canada. Is this a good salary? Would I be able to save money?

Looking forward to hear replies from you

Thank you!

We need more information.  15k SR is equivalent to $4k USD.  A good CPA in the US will make more than that with experience.  What is your experience level?   Taking into account the expat friendly tax situation, you might still be challenged if their benefits package doesn't include accommodation.  Do you have children?  Have they mentioned transportation?  Return travel for vacation? Medical coverage?  All things to be considered...

Given the fact that I've not yet arrived in the Kingdom, there are many on here with more creditable input than I, but I believe their feedback will be similar.

Seems like I forgot about this thread after my post asking for details.

Rigger is spot on.  15k package means the basic is about 11-12k.  That is very low for a western citizen, but I don't know where you are from, as you say that you "have lived in Canada".

Tickets and medical insurance for family should be over and above that package.  The package includes basic salary, housing allowance, and transport allowance.

What I would recommend is negotiating for a housing allowance or furnished housing on top of that 15,000, or at least another 2k per month to cover part of the housing.  Even with the 15k you can save lots of money, so that is not the issue.  I just feel that the package is low, IF you are a western citizen.  Housing will cost you no more than 3k, and that will get you either a 2 room place in an upscale part of town, or a massive 4-5 room place in a middle class part of town.

You should make a separate thread to get more answers.  Your post is just buried inside this other semi-relevant thread.

Your salary obviously reflects the fact that you are, what they call here, a "TCN", Third Country National.  I am one too!  You know something, Saudi secretaries get basic pay of 5-6k, and South Asian ones get 2-5k.  So, your salary is not good, but I guess that's what they give to TCN doctors in the MOH.  Are you a GP or a specialist?

Housing allowance is usually 20-25% of basic, and transportation is usually 10% of basic, so add another 30% or so to figure out your package.  I am assuming you haven't been given housing?

What you must get on top of that package is flights and medical insurance.
