Suggestion for an area to stay?

Moving to Malta in the next two weeks. Been trying to read as many topics and posts as possible to find out all the basics about my new country of living. The one question I couldn't find a good enough answer is that in which area I should start looking for to rent an apartment.

I'm moving alone but a cheap 2 bedroom apartment also goes because it looks like a friend of mine is following my footsteps a month later. My office will be located in Sliema. I don't have any too tight demands, but if there are a variety of options, I would appreciate a location within a walking distance (3-5km) from the office and possibly some decent running possibilities. I don't care if the neighborhood is of the good or bad kind, more important are the price and the actual apartment.

Any recommendations of the area and perhaps an estimation of the price? If possible, I could also live a little further away and ride a bike to work, but I've heard that the cycling conditions there aren't the best in the world..? Not too into buses though.

Best regards

Kolac

sounds like u have answered ur own question...
forget cycling... get used to buses if u have no access to car...
and look for an apartment within few kms radius from ur office...

google maps really is a good tool - the areas to look at will be clear enough for sure,, as nothing is too far away

Gzira. Ta Xbiex,  Msida,

cycling - the roads are not brilliant and the driving skills here are severely lacking as there is little or no consideration to cyclists.... many do cycle but ti wouldnt be my choice even if i could. lol

What about Pembroke, what are the negative points for this area ? state of buildings for renting purpose ? people living in Pembroke  ? Transport to valetta from Pembroke (bus) ? schools (state schools) ?
Thanks

Would be better though if Google had actually driven the routes so one could check the Street View as well. Yeah I've noticed that the distances shouldn't be a problem, plenty of areas nearby. But what is the countryside like near the cities? Is it all private property or are there paths / running routes one could use?

i wouldnt have said so.

Pembroke...Good state primary, some expat community, some choice of renting, slightly cheaper than Sliema, busses frequent to Valletta but rush hour could take hour upwards...Hope that helps!
