Hi All,

Is there any bed/furniture shops that sell double bed's that don't cost the earth?? tried looking in yellow pages which was not very good

Just looking for a standard double divan with mattress and no headboard.

Many thanks

Hi Ken, divans are not that common over here...They tend to sell the slatted frame type, then you usually have to pay for the slats lol! Mattress is always seperate.

There is a small but cheap shop called World Bargins. There is one in Mosta and I think one in Fgura.

For mattresses, then Hamrun is the place to go, More Blata L-Bajda end, along the main street, sorry, don't know any of the names.
Good luck

Caroline

Ps, look in The Bargin magazine that comes in the post.

Hi Caroline,

Many thanks for the guidance, sounds a bit like Ikea where you have to buy it all separately lol

I got a couple of shops from the free ad's paper and will certainly be looking at World Bargains.

I would say to look in the Bargain magazine too. If you see a 'special offer' and decide to go to the shop, take the magazine with you,as I have seen a difference in price.
Im not sure if The Atrium sells beds, but they are advertising that they have up to 70% off so may be worth a look!

Have you thought about using Trotters Independent Traders at Tarxien...yes he is a barrow boy  (ex london market trader and has a yellow robin too) and is a ringer for Del Boy in his demeanour and mannerisms.... they pick up from Argos in UK - for a fee obviously ....they book container space to bring rakes of stuff into Malta  - he spends a week here and then10 days in uk alternating - doing this)

the reason i say this is that i was talking to a lady last night and she has used them ans she said they proved to be very good and able to do exactly what they say they will do..... i think she said the fee was 20% of order..... however the more you use them the less this figure gets.....

nb they have a facebook page and they also have end of range "argos" stuff at their shop ....

its a good service if you cant find what you want here - prices clearly have to be considered - but this lady in the village tried them and was too late to place the order so she phoned DELBOY whilst he  was on the collection run and - he got the items for her and brought them back.... so you cant argue with that - she was a very very happy bunny...

they will even collect from Tesco too.

That's even better, on my way up there now to order a bed and some other bits and bobs..

Went down to see Delboy yesterday and he told me he could get the bed "not a problem" but the size of it would mean I'd have to pay more for the delivery. He asked his assistant where she got her's from and asked her to take us the in Luqa.

Again the Maltese hospitality astounds me, they really bend over backwards to help. On 4 separate occasions people helped us yesterday.

BTW if anyone is interested the company we finally got the bed from is called CBR and can be found at:

Tarxien Road

Unfortunately we did not get a divan but a metal framed bed which looks quite nice actually and I believe it's a king size as well so nee to spend yet more money on a quilt and bed set  :joking:
