Germany recently (2 years ago) introduced the EU Blue Card that aims to attract foreign professionals into the country. They have issued a list of professions on demand in Germany, you can look at the list and decide whether it would be an option for you.

Hello Shani,

My name is Khurram. I have recently moved to Germany myself since I am married to a Pakistani born German. I am an IT professional and been looking for a job for the past one year. I am sure reading this would make you a bit worried but trust me there is nothing to worry about.

As you have already stated, that you will be doing a language course before coming here to Germany. The key to getting into the local job market here is to learn their language - especially if you are able to get to the their B1 level. Secondly once you start your masters, you will be bound to complete an internship period in order to completed your degree. The chances are that the company you are doing internship with will most likely offer you a position.

Besides that Germany has a huge potential for engineers. The IT and Telecom boom in the last 2 decades has created a serious shortage of engineering skill-set. Also I would recommend that you do any additional training or certifications from Pakistan as they are very expensive here in Germany. e.g. Lean six sigma or PMP etc.

Hope that clarifies a lot for you, but feel free to message me if you have any more questions.

Khurram
