Hi all...

I would be moving to Muscat in March 1st week and hence i wanted was some insight on what all essentials do i carry from India when i travel for the first time? I've heard of people carrying idli steamers, rolling pins and chapathi stones..etc.. are these not available out there? if yes are they extremely expensive?
Also, please do let me know about the fashion trend out there ?? My friends in Dubai carry the entire year's wardrobe(both Indian and western) from here in India. I agree about Indian wear but how about western wear like jeans and casuals  or tops? are these very expensive or no good choices? please throw some light on that too..

Thanks & Regards,

Megmat

Dont worry, almost all items are availaible in Oman with also competitive price.

All household appliances and items are available in Muscat. But they be more expensive in comparison here than they are in India (not extremely though, as you have mentioned). That's why many choose to carry a lot of these stuff from India when they come to Oman.

Most airlines do not allow for more than 30 or 40 kilos as baggage allowance (In economy class) and so it would not be feasible to carry too many household things as one would have to carry clothes etc as well.

Garments, shoes, handbags and other male / female accessories are certainly more expensive here than they are back home. Yes, all big brands are available and you will be spoilt for choices, but bear in mind that they cost a bomb.

I'm still thinking on "What to suggest" you for the "Fashion Trends"   :/ ..... I have even seen  men, wearing casual shorts at official parties and women, wearing red and golden (Shining) Sarhees, walking on the Beach shore too  :D
